DDB Group Singapore launches Creative Online Store – Degree

July 22, 2011

degree-store-newHow do we encourage creativity and innovation beyond the brief? If we’re to be a truly creative agency, we would make the briefs, ideas and products ourselves.

Our 120-strong Creative Department has more ideas than we can use. Ideas that leap out unasked while brainstorming, but mostly ideas that will remain ideas – unless we help turn them into products.

It’s time we turn our ideas into commerce social.

So we created Degree, a creative merchandise division that brings product ideas from agency staff to life and merchandises them. It involves collaboration between the creatives and yes, the very astute business marketers.

It’s simple the way it works. The agency funds the production, sale and shipping of any idea that it thinks has potential and shares the profit with the staffer who came up with it.

Already on sale are posters and life-sized alphabet furniture that can be assembled and actually look pretty cool. While not exactly selling like eBay yet, we’ve made our first sales from Oslo to India.

We not only tell our clients we’re into commerce social. Now we’re doing it.
